Lee Roy Selmon's tale combines the football scholarship of his family as well as service in the local community. The first line of his family was that he's the youngest out of nine kids raised in Eufala with Lucious Selmon. The Selmons were also among the three siblings that represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for all of the nation. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won the national title twice. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Fourth year of the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. Following college, he relocated in Tampa and played for nine years with the Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro three times. He then began his professional career. The year 1988 was the first time he worked as an Account Relation Manager in the First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as among the top 10 young men from the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was on the team. squad. In 1993, he was named assistant director of the University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma made the presentation.
