Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry children that would be raised with them eventually. She learned early on how to conquer of her difficulties through her vibrant and imaginative imagination. The songs she wrote were composed before she could read or write. She got her first guitar when she was just 8 years old and started performing on a Knoxville Tenn radio station at age eleven. Gold Band Records is a small label that is independent. Even though she was still studying, she established a name for herself in the local music scene. Her goal was to to perform at a much greater scale. On the very day she graduated from high school, in 1964. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her two first charting albums for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host in the late '60s, was looking for a female singer for his program. Parton was hired in the year 1967 and signed by RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974 when her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it climbed to the top spot at No. For the first time, in 1974.
