
Julie London (nee Peck; September 26th 1926 - 18 October in 2000) was an American actor and performer with a career that spanned over 40 years. London was a torch-singing singer famous for her soft, melodic vocals and smooth contralto voice was a recording artist on more than thirty albums of pop and jazz standards between 1955-1969. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame was her recording of "Cry Me a River" the song she premiered on her debut album. London was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for her part in the role of Dixie McCall, a nurse on Emergency! London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's career in acting lasted 35 years. It began in 1944 , with roles in movies. These included roles as the lead female role in numerous westerns. She also appeared with Rock Hudson in The Fat Man (1951), John Cassavetes and Robert Taylor in Saddle the Wind (1958), Gary Cooper in Man of the West (1958) as well as Robert Mitchum with The Wonderful Country (1959). In the mid-1950s, she signed a recording deal with Liberty Records, marking the beginning of her professional career. In 1969, she released her last studio album. But she was prominent in the emergency show in the role of Dixie McCall, a female nurse. (1972-1979), she starred with her husband Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
